Επιβατικό αεροσκάφος της Air India συνετρίβη λίγο μετά την απογείωση από την πόλη Αχμενταμπάντ στη δυτική Ινδία.
Η πτήση AI171 είχε προορισμό το αεροδρόμιο του Γκάτγουικ στο Λονδίνο, όπου είχε προγραμματιστεί να φτάσει στις 18:25 τοπική ώρα.
Η Air India ανακοίνωσε ότι η πτήση της «ενεπλάκη σε συμβάν», χωρίς να δώσει ακόμη πλήρη στοιχεία για το τι ακριβώς συνέβη. Σύμφωνα με την υπηρεσία παρακολούθησης πτήσεων Flightradar24, το αεροσκάφος ήταν Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

BREAKING: There were 53 Britons on board the Air India flight when it crashed, according to the airline.
More than 240 passengers are believed to have been on the craft in total, with the majority Indian nationals.
