Now in its fourth year, Reimagine Tourism in Greece has established itself as the leading platform for dialogue on the future of Greek tourism. By highlighting the pivotal role of regional destinations in the country's new development trajectory, the initiative continues to bring together policymakers, industry leaders, academics, and local stakeholders to shape a more sustainable and competitive tourism model.
This year's regional event, "Thessaloniki as a New European Metropolitan Destination," will take place on 8 September at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall. The event will focus on strengthening the city's strategic position as an emerging metropolitan destination, with discussions covering key topics such as infrastructure, connectivity, culture, wine tourism, and the new opportunities unfolding across Northern Greece.
The flagship conference in Athens, to be held on 19 November at the Lighthouse, Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), will examine the challenges and opportunities facing Greek tourism in an increasingly dynamic global environment. Central to the discussions will be the development of a comprehensive long-term master plan to lay the foundations for a more sustainable, resilient, and future-ready tourism sector. Achieving this vision requires a fundamental commitment to closer and more effective collaboration between the public sector, private enterprises, and local communities.
Through constructive dialogue and the exchange of ideas, Reimagine Tourism 2026 aims to serve as a catalyst for developing a coherent roadmap that balances sustainable growth with the preservation of local identity, strengthening Greece's position as a modern, competitive, and authentic global destination.
