Tourism: A Survey on the Greek Sentiment
George Arapoglou, CIO PULSE RC
The results of the new Panhellenic survey by PULSE RC, on behalf of KATHIMERINI, reflect the multidimensional relationship of Greeks with tourism, confirming the recognition of its great importance for the national economy (86%). Half of the participants (48%) consider that our country’s options for the future of tourism are in the right direction (although improvements are needed…), compared to 28% who express doubt and 16% who find that they are not clear. The preference by the majority (54%) of “fewer foreign tourists in a better financial situation” shows the desire for better quality tourism. A number of concerns about the effects and impacts are recorded and assessed, but none have worsened dramatically in recent times. The views and responses of the citizens seem balanced – positive in the evaluation although strict in the criticism – highlighting the desire to maintain and strengthen, in the proper way, the most important sector for our country.
